Dyson DC16 handheld Vac

A great little machine that picks up dirt very well but the battery life is shockingly bad. When I bought this little animal dyson I was very excited because with having a dog doing the car, stairs, getting into corners of rooms etc were a nightmare with a large vaccum. However, the drawback is huge. The battery life is unbelievably short. Infact, I only managed to do half of the carpet on my stairs when the battery died. I couldn''t believe it when I read the ticket info that came with it and it stated "6 mins of use on a 3 hours charge". I had to read it twice. I would suggest avoiding spending your money on this little dyson.

Having been entirely happy with performance of my upright Dyson vacuum cleaner I purchased the Root 6. I wanted a handheld cleaner w/o messy bags etc. After charging for 3 hours I began to vacuum stairs and after 3 to 4 minutes the Root 6 stopped and had to be recharged for another 3 hours - only to give another 3 minutes endurance!! I thought we were all supposed to be saving on electricity!!!! I rang Dyson customer service whose only comment was that the Root 6 was not supposed to replace an upright vacuum. I asked why did it not state on their Root 6 box or in literature that the battery life was only 4 minutes but no answer on that score. If I had read on the box the battery life was this short I would have kept walking. Guess what - I am returning it to the store I purchased it from. Bad marks to Dyson for putting such a poor product on the market. The average person needs a cordless portable that will function longer than 3 minutes.

I had a Dyson Animal and was excited to see a handheld version so I could us it to clean my car and boat. I plugged it in, let it charge for 3 hours and then used it on my car. The suction was great. But before I got through the front seats, it died on me. I thought the batteries were defective. I called Dyson, they said the batteries only last 5 minutes per 2-3 hour charge. The packaging is very misleading. It states that the batteries recharge quickly, but they conveniently leave out that they only last 5 minutes. My Dustbuster lasts 20+ minutes. I am returning my Dyson. I am extremely disappointed with the Root 6 and disgusted that Dyson does not warn its customers.

Very similar experience. The battery only last about 4 mins. It needs further research by Dyson, so back to Argos it goes!

only lasts 3.5 minutes after a 3 hour charge

Bought the Dyson Cordless. It worked fine for 3 minutes. The stopped. Recharged it for 3 hours, it worked fine for 3 and a half minutes. I thought there was a problem and re-charged it one more time. Same 3.5 minutes then it packed up again. We Called Dyson helpline to be informed (this info not mentioned anywhere in any literiture regarding this product at all), that after a three hour charge, that the Dyson will only work for a maximum of three or four minutes vaccuming for every three hours charge. Took it back to Argos.
