Learn from my mistake. When de-scaling one of these, use only the mildest solution. The de-scaler will eat away the seal around the glass causing it to leak.

the Breville JK56 Cordless Electric Kettle

Having had to replace my current kettle (due to water leaking onto the electric supply plate !) I was cautious about buying another which would do likewise. However, I managed to get a good look at a display model and found that the Breville JK56 was well designed and appeared to be well manufactured. The handle is a good size and easily balanced when the kettle is full. It is also easy to fill using the spout (which also contains a filter for hard water areas). The fast boil is an added bonus - although I didn't notice much difference between my last 2K and this 3k model - so don't expect that instant cup of coffee ! Additionaly, it illumuinates a nice blue glow (which does add a bit of cheer first thing) !
Pros:
easy to fill / easy to handle / nice to look at

none
