| The Toshiba Gigabeat. Toshiba have created a new portable digital audio player that brings a fresh look to portable audio market. The features that the majority of these devices provide are very similar, the few things that make a device stand out are brand and design. Toshiba is not the first name that comes to mind for personal audio, however the Gigabeat has the pedigree to be a serious player in the market. The Gigabeat stores MP3, WAV, or WMA music than can be ripped for CD at a push of a button or download music files from the web; the device also stores digital images such as your own photos which can be viewed as a slideshow, or personalise the background. The vital statistics of the stylish Gigabeat are a large 5.6cm screen that has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, displaying around 264,000 colours. The all important battery life will give you a good 16 hours of entertainment, but you will need to allow 3 hours to charge up. The dimensions are 6.3W x 10.6H x 1.6D cm and the memory size options are 10, 20, 40, and 60GB. Toshiba “Gigabeat Room” software manages images storage and ripping CDs simply, once your tracks are downloaded the system can collect CDDB track information and album covers that appear on your track list which is a great feature and Napster To Go software come with the Gigabeat for music download off the net. The player comes with chunk headphones and docking cradle; connection is supported by USB 2.0 and is compatible with PC only, Mac is not supported. |
