An overview of the Sony Cybershot T500 Digital Camera Review

The latest model from Sony is the Cybershot T500 digital camera with a 10 mega pixel sensor, 5x optical zoom and the ability to create 720p movies at 30fps.

The design is not very original for a Sony model but is still classy and modern with a downward sliding front panel which conceals the lens and flash. We were a little disappointed by the lack of a viewfinder, but we'll just have to rely on the Canon's for that. Still its not always a necessary feature. On the flipside there is a massive 3.5" LCD Touchscreen which made us weak at the knees. The screen is transflective which means that it has a special coating to ensure visibility in strong lighting conditions, such as on the beach.

Face detection is on board as quite a standard but impressive feature along with movie recording up to 10 minutes and will zoom as recording, and all at 720p 30fps in fine, standard or VGA recording modes. Sony felt it important to focus more on the video recording side with the T500 as their consumer research revealed that was an important factor to have good quality and lengthy movie recording on a digital camera.

Good quality images should be no problem with the Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation feature on board with high sensitivity settings up to 3200 ISO.

The Sony T500 will be available soon and we will be back with a full review.
