Sony DSC-G1 12MP Digital CameraSony DSC G1 Camera Review
Sony G1 Digital Camera is the latest offering from Sony and although it's packed with great features, it's held back by it's low mega-pixel resolution.
| Design | | The Sony G1 looks uber cool from the front with its smooth rounded corners and hidden lens. Towards the back it has what looks like a 3.5 inch touch screen but it's not. The controls slide out when you slide the lens cover open. Sony have spent a lot of time making sure this camera looks appealing and in our humble opinion its the best looking camera we have seen this year. | | Setup | | There isn't really any! - You dont even have to insert a memory card as the DSC-G1 comes with 2GB built-in memory which is enough for about 600 high resolution photos. | | Features | | This is where things get interesting; the Sony G1 is packed with features. It has a in built MP3 player for listening to music on the move, Wi Fi for transfering images to your computer or to another near-by G1 camera. 2GB built-in memory, and a 720p hi-def viewing screen. | | Performance | When we talk about camera performance it almost always comes down to mega-pixels and picture quality. On the downside the G1 only has a very 2006 - 6 mega pixels which is pretty small seeing that Nokia have a mobile phone out that has 5 mega pixels. But as my father used to say, its not what you've got its how you use it that matters, and the picture's that we took with the G1 were as clear and viberant as any we have seen from the likes of the 10 mega-pixel Samsung NV10. The G1 also has a 3x optical zoom and a 6x digital zoom, and something Sony calls "Super SteadShot" that reduces picture shake. | | What's In The Box? | | In the box you get the camera, rechargeable battery, cradle, AC power adaptor, AV & USB cables, wrist strap and software. | | Overall Opinion | | The Sony G1 is a smart looking camera that is packed with features but for this price we would have liked to have seen a much higher mega-pixel count, especially as Sony have just announced the launch of a 12 mega-pixel compact camera. |

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1
An overpriced, overweight and oddball camera, the Sony Cybershot DSCG1 takes decent photos but its ancillary features of WiFi and MP3 playback aren't usefully implemented..
