Pure Digital EVOKE 3 Radio Review
Babita Wakelin
There are some things that are natural winners. And in the world of digital radio this is probably the best one out on the market.
If you're looking for an easy-to-use radio, that looks good and receives clear signals, here's a fine specimen of a product. Not only that, i'ts bursting with great functions.
Like its predecessors, the design of the Pure Digital EVOKE-3 hasn’t changed much and still remains simple, yet stylish.
What has changed are some of the functions. And that's a good thing. You get all the basics you had on the previous models such as live pause, rewind, graphical displays and easy to program settings. But in the Evoke-3, like the Bug, you get a SD memory card, which means you can record your favourite programmes.
Also like the Bug it comes with an electronic programme guide that lists seven days worth of shows so there’s no excuse for missing anything on the radio again.
One of the best features is the six line screen - it may not sound overly impressive, until you realise it means you can read everything without waiting for it to scroll to the end.
Sound quality from the speakers is great, so if you want to utilse the iPod plug-in function, you can, without getting distortion sound. There’s also a USB connector which allows you to upgrade the programme but also download podcasts from your PC.

Pros + EPG, broadcast by participating DAB stations, gives programme times for up to seven days in advance. + Can set up to 20 record timers at the touch of a button. + Supports SD memory cards up to 2GB. + Records whole radio programmes or music tracks. + Has up to 20 alarms and a sleep timer. |
Cons - It doesn't come cheap, but they you pay for quality |
