The new Pioneer Kuro Plasma TV range has been raved about and promises to deliver a whole spectrum of new features and exciting specifications. The 50" Plasma PDP-LX5090 is one of the best of the entire range so we are very excited to be giving a good ol' test.

The design is one of many favourite parts of the PDP-LX5050 as it has very slim frame lines, a deep black glossy finish and a strong and solid base. All controls are nicely hidden away so the front of the screen is completely flawless and refined.

Features
Pioneer created the Kuro range to deliver the blackest blacks and therefore producing the most detailed and vibrant colours from this. The PDP-LX5090 is a new model from this range and so therefore has the Kuro stamp and promises to deliver these exciting colour prospects. It also has many other exciting features including 3 v1.3 HDMI outputs, a USB port, 3 SCARTS, 1 PC input, 72Hz mode for enhancing 1080p/24Hz playback, 100Hz picture processing, noise reduction functions, automatic image light sensors, direct colour filter technology and much much more.

Performance
We were hugely impressed with the performance of the Pioneer PDP-LX5090 Plasma Tv as we have been with all of the Kuro TV's we have tested. This model delivered exactly what it set out to with stunning black levels and amazing colours. Noise levels were kept to an absolute minimum and were only slightly visible when closely scrutinised. Details were present in every scene and in every colour to a degree that we have never seen before and we praise Pioneer for creating a technology that works so wonderfully well even at such a large screen size. The setup menu was difficult to navigate at first but easy to get to grips with after a wee while and was simple to go back to for further tweaking. If you're not confident enough to attempt your own image preferences, Pioneer have included an automatic adjustment system which will do this for you and save the settings.

Overall Opinion
One of the best Tv's we have ever tested and we didn't want it to go home. Images were displayed perfectly with no noise and a massive range of colours with the blackest blacks and whitest whites. If you can afford it, then buy this TV, it is simply amazing.
