Design
The Pioneer Kuro range of Plasma TV's is exquisite with a beautiful glossy frame design. The black frame is becoming increasingly popular on a widescreen TV as it appears to be more classy and sophisticated and Kuro in Japanese actually means black. (This also refers to the impressive black levels too though). The Pioneer PDP-428XD can be wall mounted but is quite thick so therefore will stand out a fair bit. We would recommend using the stand it arrives with and let it stand proud.
Features
Pioneer is very proud of the Kuro range that includes new and unique features creating a difference to other previous models. These unique features are Intelligent Brightness Control, Integrated Digital DVB-T Tuner, USB Host, Subwoofer ouput, ISF Calibration Ready and Split/Multi Screen Options. Pioneer have stated they have made the necessary additions to their new range of Plasma TV’s to ensure that the images you receive are of a very high standard are exactly how the filmmaker intended them to be. The Kuro name, meaning black in Japanese, has been used due to the deepest black levels which are present, and therefore produce the purest colours and the sharpest details. Other features include, 3 HDMI, True Matrix Imaging with Deep Waffle Rib Structure, iClear Drive, Dynamic HD Converter, Digital Noise Reduction, Pure Cinema and loads more.

Performance
We have reviewed many impressive Plasma and LCD TV’s in our time, but the Pioneer Kuro PDP-428XD has got to be the best ever. This is a TV of perfection in every way. We were amazed by the absolute black levels as was advertised and spot on they are too. They are the deepest and most detailed we have ever seen. Colours are absolutely amazing being vibrant and sharp with a clarity we have never seen before. Every colour of the spectrum from black to white is displayed wonderfully. Pioneer offer its customers an ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) engineer to professionally calibrate the 428XD to suit your particular viewing needs. What better start to your TV setup is there than that. The TV setup manual is like a big old bible and has so much information it is quite daunting, but once you have setup a few of the necessities, the rest seems to follow quite easily. The TV’s remote is easy to use and also very trendy looking too.

The Pioneer PDP-428XD is an outstanding Plasma TV with amazing features and performs like no other. The qualities of the images are extremely impressive and although the price tag is a little steep, it really is worth every one of those hard earned pennies.
