| The first design feature that is noticed with the wireless Philips HTS-6600 surround sound system is the minimal appearance and reduced amount of speakers compared to most other systems. This system has an extremely trendy appearance and is made from glass and aluminium with a glossy black finish with silver trim on all parts to match that of the majority of flat screen TV’s. The main unit itself has a great futuristic feel to it as it can be wall mounted and will hang vertically with a sliding DVD disc drawer on one side and touch functions on the other. |

| The Philips Surround Sound System has Philips own Ambisound technology on board which provides multi-channel surround sound from fewer speakers and delivers a 5.1 sound experience regardless of the size or shape of the room and without the clutter of extra cables or wires. The HDMI’s connections ensure that no sound quality is lost by going through analogue sources. An MP3 Plug and Play connection allows you to connect your MP3 or PMP (Portable Media Player) to the unit and you can listen to your personal tunes through the surround sound speakers. Philips DoubleBASS system ensures that you hear amazing bass through the small subwoofer speakers. Philips also prides themselves on providing its customers with a quick and easy set-up and no-fuss installation and even includes colour coded connections. |

| The sound quality that was received by the Philips HTS6600 Surround Sound System was of a particularly high standard and certainly impressed us. It was noticeable that certain speakers were missing from the equation and sound effects that come from speakers behind you were absent which did stand out. However, music and dialogue was played immaculately and did not disappoint. High definition images were displayed really well too with minimal image noise. Colours were vibrant and sharp and details were displayed excellently. |
| Overall Opinion |
| The Philips HTS6600 Surround Sound System certainly improves the image and sound received by your widescreen TV alone so for that reason you are already gaining a definite improvement. There are additional speakers that can be purchased to improve sound in particular areas, such as rear sound effects, but if you’re too fussed by this small flaw, you will be impressed with this system and its fair price. |
