Panasonic bring us a massive 50 inches of glorious LCD TV heaven with V-real technology for the ultimate in high picture quality.
Design |
Although the TH-50PZ700 is wonderfully huge, it lacks originality and blends in with the widescreen TV crowd. It has a glossy black frame with a matching stand and nothing else worth mentioning really. Actually, one other thing that is worth mentioning is the anti-glare coating on the screen that works really well.
Features
A fantastic list of features sets this model apart from other models of this seize, starting with Panasonic’s V-real technology which promises to deliver ultimate high picture quality, as well as having a Full HD plasma panel, 1080p digital processing chip-set and a 1080p digital re-mastering processor. V-real also brings an HD optimizer, 5,000:1 contrast, advanced 3D colour management, motion pattern noise reduction and a sub-pixel controller. The Viera Link feature is also included which means that you can hook up to any other compatible products and operate them with just one single remote. There are three HDMI inputs and a PC input as well as digital optical ouput. An advanced smart sound speaker system has been thrown in for optimum audio along with SRS TruSurroundXT and Dolby Digital.
Performance
The first and most prominent performance is the sound. The bass is fantastic and adds a great deal of depth to the image displayed. The audio is clear and precise and we feel that Panasonic has hit the nail on the head with the speaker system where other manufacturers have failed. The image is also superb, especially in Full HD. The black levels were stunning and we really struggled to witness any motion blur at all. The TH-50PZ700U coped with fast moving scenes really well and is a great HD TV.
Overall Opinion
A reasonably priced 50 inch mega screen with great images, great sound and an impressive 3 HDMI’s. Panasonic has excelled itself with the TH-50Z700U as it is quite easily one of the best we have seen.
