Nikon COOLPIX S6 Digital Camera Review
Babita Wakelin
Unless you’re a budding Bailey, most of us have simple requirements when it comes to our camera needs. What we want is a camera that’s small and light so you don’t need to hire a camel to carry the load. We don’t want anything too complicated – a simple aim and click should be enough to produce good quality images. And in an ideal world we’d be able to download the images straight on to our computer without any fuss, or rummaging around for cables. If you’ve been nodding in agreement, Nikon has the answer. The Nikon Coolpix S6 is a slinky, slim, shiny, sexy looking camera that comes bumper-packed with functional goodies to go alongside the aesthetically pleasing design. And you don’t need a degree to use the many functions. It really is a case of aim, chick, check your pictures and then send them straight to your PC from where you’re standing. | |
| Yes, the S6 is another one of Nikon’s Wi-Fi products which means you can take an image and send it wirelessly to your computer straightaway or, you can wait and download them all in one go. And it’s even compatible with printers, allowing you to print pictures straight from the camera. In the meantime before sending them, you can view your snaps on the large three inch screen and even use the new Pictmotion function that lets you create entertaining in-camera shows. The “rotary multi-selector” or the nippled-wheel as we’d like to call it allows you to zoom through menus and images at up to ten per second like a finely tuned car. And there are all the usual scene modes including an in-camera red-eye fix, d-lighting function, and best of all, the intuitive face-priority AF which automatically detects and focuses the subjects face. It looks great, takes brilliant pictures and you is easy to use. | |
