Design
The design of the LG 42PG6000 Plasma TV is truly unique and extremely stylish. The screen and frame are covered in a thin piece of glass so they are flush with each other rather than the usual design of having the frame sitting on top of the screen. The glossy black finish gives the LG 42PG6000 a high level of class.
Features
The LG 42PG6000 has been designed not only to look amazing in your living space but to also provide you with the best possible images with the best technology to provide them. This Plasma TV contains many exciting and impressive features including a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 to deliver outstanding colours and black levels, a Dual XD Engine, 100Hz Picture Processor, SRS TruSurround XT, Clear Voice technology to nesure the dialogue can be heard when the background noise increases, Invisible Speakers that provide stunning sound but are also hidden within the frame and Simplink for ease of operation with a single remote. The connectivity is excellent with 4 HDMI ouputs providing the freedom to hook up all of your device and have them attached all at once. Two full SCARTs, USB 2.0, Component + Audio, RS-232C, AV In, Digital Audio Out (optical), S-Video, PC Input and Composite to complete. A Game mode has been included for the games console owners, so when you have your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 hooked up, the Game Mode will ensure the ultimate image and sound is displayed to match the games graphics and actions. A Sports Mode and Movie mode also work in the same way.
Performance
The LG 42PG6000 is one of the most resonably proiced Plasma TV's on the market at present and even without being a Full HD model with a resolution of 1024x768, the quality of the image delivered it outstanding. Colours were vibrant and sharp with amazing clarity, skin tones were reproduced well but not as well as we have seen elsewhere, although this is not easy to spot. Black levels were displayed well again but not the best we have seen. Levels were'nt as deep as we like them and the detail was hard to find. To the untrained eye, this really would not be a problem and the black levels are still much better then many other LCD TV's. The Dual XD Engine works well at delivering a good quality image and Standard definition images are good.
Overall Opinion
The LG 42PG6000 is a very impressive Plasma with some great image enhancing features. Sound is of a high quality and the price is more than reasonable for the overall quality you receive.
