Design
The design of this TV is very much what we have come to expect from LG clean simple lines finished in polished piano black. The speaker is cleverly hidden underneath the screen. The 42LC55 comes with a matching gloss black pedestal stand.
Connections
2 x HDMI 2 x Scart Component PC Input Digital Optical Out (5.1 Home Cinema System) S-Video There is no side mounted HDMI which we think all flat screens should come with as most sceens are placed on a wall and putting the connections on the back can make life very hard when you just want to plug and play something. |
Features
Features is not the Lg 42LC55s strong point mainly because there are very few this, I suppose is one of the reasons Lg have managed to get this TV priced under £900. What there is though is a Digital tuner and a screen that has a picture resolution of 1366 x 786 with a contrast ratio of 5000:1. The sound on the 42LC55 comes from 2 x 10 watt speakers which produce what Lg calls Surround MAX.

Performance
We were not expecting much form the Lg42LC55 in the performace stakes lets face it there is no 1080p or even 1080i so it was always going to stuggle with HD quality pictures from Sky HD and HD DVD players. Where the 42LC55 did impress was with standard digital TV. The pictures where clear and there was very little pixilation. The black levels using all inputs where better than previous Lg Tvs but they are still some way off having the sharpness and depth of the Sony X Range.
Overall Opinion
This is not the Tv for you if you want to blow your friends away with a amazing HD picture, but if you wanta stylish looking TV that you just want to watch normal Tv this is a seriously great buy.
