LG have released a sight for sore eyes with the 37LF66 Full HD 1080p LCD TV that won’t completely break the bank and provide you with some fantastic features and stunning images. Design |
And a sight for sore eyes it is too, with a glossy black frame and a silver strip that adds a high level of class, the appearance of the LG 37LF66 really doesn’t reflect the reasonable price tag. The depth of the slender screen is 88.5mm which is perfect for wall mounting.

Features
With a resolution of 1920x1080 resulting in Full HD you are promised to receive spectacular images with the additional assistance of the XD Engine Full HD. This image processor ensures images are free from noise while improving contrast, detail and colour. Other features include a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000:1 and Intelligent Eye which measures the amount of light in a room and optimises the picture quality accordingly. Sound is boosted by LG’s Surround Max system along with a dimple speaker and Simplink technology (HDMI-CEC) is included to enable the user to control all LG compatible devices with a single remote. The connectivity is reasonable with 2 HDMI inputs and 2 SCARTs as well as a component, composite and s-video input.
Performance
As promised LG’s XD Engine worked wonders in producing some stunning images with great details and clarity. The colour performance was impressive but not quite as impressive as the new LG LY series (LG 37LY95) which offer a 10-bit panel compared to the 8-bit panel of the LG 37LF66. The black levels were very disappointing with very little detail and grey shadows; however skin tones and vibrant details were displayed really well with consistent clarity and brightness. The sound was good from the twin 10w speakers and the Surround Max system provided a surround sound effect which would be better with a separate system but does very well alone.
Overall Opinion
Apart from the disappointing black levels, the LG 37LF66 is a good all round performer and has a very reasonable price tag and a stunning appearance. We would recommend looking at some of LG’s other series’ before making your final decision however.
