Kodak EasyShare Z650 Digital Camera Review
Lisa Malyon
Kodak have done it again – the EasyShare range is really going from strength to strength and now they can also boast being the first to offer Wi-Fi technology (Now Avalible On Canon WiFi). The Kodak EasyShare z650 is a beginner- friendly, affordable power zoom with manual options for the more adventurous user. Design The simplistic design is nice – the front is very plain and when you turn it around you’ll see why – everything you need is on the top or the back. The 10x optical zoom is controlled by a lever at the back - why they haven’t cottoned on that they are easier to use at the front I don’t know – but just as I thought, it is quite fiddly to use which is a shame. The rest of the controls are well placed and easy to use. The large 5cm LCD is good and provides good viewing in all conditions apart from very bright sunlight. Features The Z650 has all the usual suspects on offer with manual options and a wealth of scene modes for you to play around with. The 10X power zoom is definitely its biggest feature and it does perform very well even though it is on the noisy side. It takes an SD card for memory. Performance Performance for the Z650 is middle of the road to be fair. Its start-up-to-shoot time is average with a little bit of waiting around here and there. When the zoom is in full use I noticed that the camera has real difficulties trying to focus but when the autofocus eventually kicks in it is surprisingly accurate. Image Quality For 6.36-megapixels I expected a lot more but the Z650 produced fairly average quality pictures. They are good for 6x4 but that is about it. The pictures had good colour and fine detail which is totally acceptable to the untrained eye. Overall Impression if you are a beginner after plenty of zoom this is the one for you. If you are not too fussed about the large zoom then carry on looking elsewhere. Reviewed by Lisa Malyon
