A review of the Fuji Finepix Z5FD Digital Camera
Fuji have hit the nail on the head with the new Z5fd, as along with the most important Face Detection technology, this bad boy has a 'Blog' feature which will change the size of your images and trim them in order to transmit them with a blog or other online forum. Perfect for anyone who posts piccies on line. Design |
The Z5FD is a very neat and compact digicam which has a sliding power mechanism on the front which when slid across reveals the lens and flash. The Z5FD can also be powered up with a 1 second press of the display button on the reverse. The pink model that we have been using is very bright and funky and has a matt finish which we have found to be very scratch resistant and the 2.5" LCD screen is scratch resistant too. A nice hand held size, perfect for single handed photography.
Setup/Installation
Very simple setup, simply insert the battery and memory card and away you go.
Features
As we mentioned the Z5FD has a fantastic blogging feature which changes your image to the perfect size to post online and will also trim it to fit with a blog. This is the first camera we have reviewed that offers this feature and is such a bonus as so many of us could make good use of it in the bloggiong world in which we all now live. Other features include the infamous Face Detection technology, which means that the Z5 will focus in on upto 9 faces within an image and ensure that they recieve individual attention ensuring focus and image stabilisation. The 'F' mode allows you to manually select settings on the camera to a personal preference and can easily be returned to auto with a touch of a single button. There are 6 mega pixels, a 3x optical zoom, ISO 1600, Intelligent flash, Super CCD HR and RP Processor II. |
Performance
Ther performance of the was good all round. The battery took approx. 1 hour to charge and was able to take around 200 shots before packing in, which is ok but we have seen better. Focusing was quick and showed no problems whatsoever, and good photos were produced upto ISO800 which is pretty average for Fuji as they seem to have nailed to the high ISO settings. The image quality is absolutely superb and we really stuggled to find fault with any of our images. Colours were brilliantly reproduced and were bright and sharp. A quick start-up to shoot time completed the perfection of such a small, compact camera which is rare to find today.
Overall Opinion
We really enjoyed using the Fuji Z5FD and though it was excellent value for money. Although the battery life could be slightly better, the images we recived were fab and as long as you keep the battery charged for every occassion you should have no problems with this one.
