Fuji FinePix F20 digital camera review
Design
The Finepix F20 is a fine looking camera. With its silver exterior Fujifilm have gone for simplicity – they’ve kept its pocketable dimensions (it’s only 94 x 57 x 27 mm), the design has been improved on from the Finepix F30. The front has a sexy curve on the far left hand side just to give the simple look a bit of depth. Other than that all you’ll find at the front is the 3x zoom, a flash and the red eye indicator. The power on button and taking photo button have been homed at the top for convenience. And then at the back you’ll find the 2.5 inch LCD, together with a rocker zoom button, a circular navigation wheel as well as the function buttons.
Setup/Installation
The Finpix F20 digital camera is very simple to set up. You just need to charge up the battery, switch on the camera and you’re ready to start taking snaps. Because the functions are fairly basic it doesn’t take long to get the hang of your new digital camera.
Features
The Finepix F20 is an attractive slimline 6.3 megapixel camera that boasts an ISO sensitivity of 1600 and above at full resolution, which is something most digital compacts don’t deliver. With a 2.5 inch screen and a 3x zoom, the digital camera has a quick response time of 0.01 second shutter lag and 1.4 second start-up time. Using the Fijifilm’s powerful sixth generation Super CCD HR sensor it delivers 6.3 million effective pixels and has Real Photo Processor II technology which reduces noise and delivers enhanced colour reproduction. The digital camera also comes with Fujifilm's Intelligent Flash system to avoid blurring the FinePix F20's 'Natural Light and Flash' Dual Shot mode which takes two shots in quick succession, one with flash and one without. There are 14 pre-set scene positions which include beach, snow and fireworks, making taking photos in different environments much easier. Like many of the good compact cameras these days the Finepix F20 comes with an anti-blur button to set high shutter speed and reduce the risk of blurry images. There’s also facilities for VGA video footage recording 30 frames per second with sound, and you can take up to 300 shots in one battery charge. The camera comes with 10MB of internal memory and room for an xD picture card.
Performance
There’s a reason why the Finepix F30 won such a prestigious award, and while little bro the F20 hasn’t quite got there on the podium to collect any awards, it has learned a lot from his sibling. The fact that the FinePix F20 has the sixth generation Super CCD HR Sensor and Real Photo Processor II gives the pictures a much better quality as well as more accurate colours, especially skin tones. What really makes this camera as special as the winning lottery ticket is the high ISO sensitivity. Most compact cameras don’t come anywhere near this but the F20 delivers ISO sensitivity of 1600 and above at full resolution, giving crystal clear images producing an image that’s close to what the human eye sees, even in low light, without the use of flash. The FinePix F20's sensitivity of ISO 100-2000 makes it five times more effective at capturing detailed, natural looking images in low light than a conventional compact with ISO 400.
What's In The Box?
FinePix F20 digital camera, premium leather case, Lithium-ion battery NP-70, AC Power Adaptor AC-5VC, Hand Strap, and USB and A/V cables, and software.
Overall Opinion
If you like shooting pictures in dark conditions or perhaps at dusk the high ISO will help you out no end. It’s the winning factor on the F20 because this is a feature that is usually only found on high-end digital cameras. This is a neat, compact digital camera that takes great pictures.

Fuji Finepix F20 Review The Fuji Finepix F20 strikes me as a good, solid camera. I was impressed by the picture quality and the camera was able to take sharp photos in all my tests. In this area it manages to outperform the majority of its rivals. It has an unfussy, but attractive design and offers good value for money... read | |||
