Canon PowerShot A620 Digital Camera Review

Design Although the A620 weighs quite a bit and could be described as being on the bulky side it is still pocketable. The LCD screen is variable meaning it opens up and sits out to the left-hand side of the camera allowing you to view things over your head or low to the ground. What I liked was that when you put it in your pocket or handbag the screen is protected. It’s bulky design and grippy battery compartment is an advantageous for comfort, making it feel safer in your hand. The controls are well designed, for every sized hand and the zoom control is located around the shutter release button which felt really natural to use. Features Jam packed with features – The A620 is such a winner. With 7.1-megapixels, 4X optical zoom, manual and automatic options, 6 white balance settings and Digic11 Image Processor – this camera definitely suits someone wanting a bit more than a point and shoot. I was impressed by how the camera helps you choose the right exposure. The camera comes with a 32MB SD card and takes 4 AA Ni-MH batteries which are obviously add to the bulkiness. Performance The A620 is a speedy to say the least. There was a distinct lack of any waiting around for this camera to perform anything. Because of its fast performance the battery-life seemed to last forever (well, around three days of average use). The LCD responded well and quickly and was viewable in all lighting conditions. The Digic11 Image Processor has revolutionised the speed and accuracy of the focusing with quality, definition and vibrancy. The only downfall to mention is that the A620 struggled with neutral tones under the Tungsten setting. The A620 produced exceptional image quality with fine detail and vibrant, yet natural colours. Thank goodness Canon are continuing to generate cameras that offer that little bit more than other affordable models on the digicam market. The PowerShot A620 is definitely one of them and this one is sophisticated enough for people other than beginners.
