A review of the Canon DC40 DVD Camcorder
Canon have excelled themselves yet again with the Canon DC40 DVD camcorder that blows other DVD camcorders out of the water with its impressive Electronic Image Stabilisation feature and 4 mega pixels for video footage and still capture. Design |
The Canon DC40 DVD camcorder is a great option if you are in need of a camcorder that is very simple to use, but has a generous features list. The design of the DC40 is also a great advantage as it is just the right size to sit comfortably in your palm and also lightweight at only 480g. With a light silver and dark grey combination finish, the Canon DC40 has a sophisticated appearance while being solid and strong.
Features
The Canon DC40 DVD camcorder records straight to DVD so simplicity is the name of the game and creating a home movie is effortless, you just have to provide the memories. An Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) system ensures that your footage is vibration free and hand shake will not be ruining your images. The DC40 is equipped with a 10x optical zoom lens, a high resolution 4 mega pixel CCD for video and still images, a Hi-speed USB connection so transferring footage is mega quick, built in flash and night light and last but by no means least, the DC40 is furnished with Canon’s DIGIC DV processor so colours are true and amazingly realistic while being vibrant and sharp.
Performance
The performance of the Canon DC40 DVD camcorder was very interesting indeed as the footage was second to none and effortlessly done too. Colours were excellent, bright and vibrant and extremely accurate. The video night light was a great advantage to help out in those low light situations, but our subjects would automatically shut their eyes in fear of being blinded as the light is so bright. The LCD was of high quality and very bright indoors especially, however when in direct sunlight was very washed out. Connecting the DC40 to a PC was simple and we were impressed with the ease of operation with everything we tried to do without the use of the manual.
Overall Opinion
The Canon DC40 is a highly recommended DVD camcorder that is simple to use and provides excellent footage with great colours.
