Review of the Apple (MA094GA) Arm Band for iPod Nano
Golden Delicious apples never let us down with their crunchy bite and sweet taste, and we’ve now also come to expect the best from anything that boasts the Apple name too. With this in mind, we couldn’t wait to get our teeth into the iPod Nano Sports Arm Band and give it a good run for its money. Design |
Fashion conscious apple has made the Nano armband available in five colours including grey, red, green, blue and pink. We reviewed the grey one but we would have preferred it in white to match the Nano but never mind. The material used is lightweight and flexible and breathable which is obviously important for use in the gym. Once you have slip your iPod Nano into the holder you don’t need to fasten it in or anything, it just sits there nice and snug. The screen pokes its head out of the top and the controls are left fully accessible. The Velcro fastener is effective and holds the arm band nicely in place. The well designed measurements allow you wear the armband on your wrist or upper arm depending on where is most comfortable for you. Unlike the XtremeMac Sportswrap iPod armband, this one doesn’t feature a cable clip to stop any incidents of strangling - so beware! |
| Performance |
We put the Apple Nano Arm Band to the test on the treadmill, the bike and the x-trainer. We found the controls easier to use when it was upside down on the upper arm and the right way up on the wrist. The annoying thing was the wire hanging down. Without a cable clip the wire does get in the way, especially when attached to your wrist. We went running outside to see how it handled a bit more terrain and unfortunately it started to rain. Massive problem as the Apple Arm Band doesn’t protect the Nano from the rain. Whoops. |
| Overall Opinion |
We like the slimline design compared to the chunkier Sportswrap and the optional wrist mount is great. If you’ve got a Nano and you only exercise indoors, the Apple Arm Band does a really good job (apart from the flailing wires). If you exercise al fresco and own anything other than the Nano, you can forget it. For just under £30 we don’t think you get a lot for your money. We would recommend that you consider the Speck SkinTight Armband for a little less cash too. |
