iPhone Gets TomTom GPS Application
TomTom Sav Nav for the new iPhone | Leading Dutch Sat Nav manufacture TomTom has told Reuters that it has a version of its Sat Nav already up and running on the new 3G iPhone that's due for release on July 11th. TomTom say they will be selling the application through Apple's App Store later this month. "Our navigation system runs on the iPhone already," a TomTom spokesman told Reuters following the announcement of Apple's iPhone 3G with GPS technology on Monday. The new iPhone will come with built in Google maps which also shows directions so in my opinion selling the TomTom app maybe a little harder than the company thinks. | | The move to put TomTom Sat Nav has shocked some analysts and is seen as a turnaround in the current mobile strategy of the Dutch company. |

Google maps currently does not offer turn by turn directions. More importantly, google maps requires constant server communication. At 70mph and a zoom level suitable for driving, you will mostly see a blank screen with google maps....
Hurry up TomTom ;) (Waiting for approval) thinkdeeper 4th Aug 'in my opinion selling the TomTom app maybe a little harder than the company thinks'
