Vodafone HTC Desire - Android 2.2 Update Arrives Today!

Never out of the limelight for more than a few days, the mighty HTC Desire is back with more goodies! As of today Vodafone are rolling out the Android 2.2 update, known as ‘Froyo’ (meaning Frozen Yoghurt) to their HTC Desire customers. The update will arrive over the air and will install straight to the handset without the need to plug it in, just make sure you’re on a wifi network when you receive the hefty download.
We’re not sure how big it will be, but based on the standard HTC update build, it’ll be roughly 90MB, so you’ll probably not want to use up your battery and data allowance on it! The update provides many improvements including an all round system performance boost, making the device more smoother and quicker. Internet browsing has been improved with faster Javascript performance and the built-in Chrome web browser render images much better than on Android 2.1.
You’ll see a few new apps, including Flashlight (no prizes for guessing what that is) an App Share feature for swapping free apps between Android users via bluetooth, email and a load of other ways. You’ll also get 720p video recording capabilities for even better quality YouTube destined pranks! Not to mention a whole host of small but appreciated user interface improvements and tweeks.
We’re sure you’re all going to love the improvements, we should know we’ve been enjoying them on our HTC Desire smartphones for a few weeks now! refreshing that software update folks, you won’t be disappointed! If you’re looking to buy an HTV Desire on Vodafone, click here for the latest offers.

You’ll also get 720p video recording capabilities with the built-in camcorder feature, for even better quality YouTube destined pranks! Not to mention a whole host of small but appreciated user interface improvements and tweeks. One of the biggest is the new WiFI hotspot feature, giving you the ability to use the phone's 3G Internet data plan on your laptop or desktop PC, and trust us, it's amazing. Hopefully Vodafone haven't blocked it due to the bandwidth usage. We know it works on 3 so fingers crossed!
