Virgin Media V HD Box Announced for £49

The 'V HD' box is Virgin Media's take on HD TV. You'll need to sign up for a Virgin Media subscription, or upgrade your current subscription to the M+ TV service or higher, if you're not already on it. The new box will set customers back £49 plus an installation fee.  A selection of new HD channels will be available on this service later in the year, these will be: ITV 1 HD, Eurosport HD, Sci Fi HD, Discovery HD, Film 4 HD and E4 HD.
As a bonus feature, the box will include the ability to receive 3D signals for when future channels become available, but you'll probably have to get your own 3D glasses at a later date. The only thing it doesn't offer is the ability to record one channel and also view a different channel at the same time, for this feature Virgin offer the V+ HD box, which carries an additional £5 a month charge unless you sign up for their most expensive TV service: TV XL.
If you're interested in purchasing the new box then you can register on Virgin's web site for more information. Once it's available you'll be notified via email, then you can snap one up earlier than everyone else.
