Sony WEGA SXRD XBR micro-display HDTV released
But Sony has announced its new Grand WEGA SXRD XBR micro-display HDTV line, and they’re big.
The word “micro” is misleading because these are big ‘ol rear projection HD TVs, which while not as popular as HD plasma or LCD are still around.
There’s the 70 inch KDS-R70XBR2 and smaller 60 inch KDS-R60XBR2. Both WEGA HD TV lines will be full 1920 x 1080 high-definition televisions using Sony’s Silicon X-tal (Crystal) Reflective Display technology.
Both Sony WEGA SXRD XBR models will come with video signal process enhancements such as Sony's WEGA Engine HD system and Digital Reality Creation Multi Function Version 2.5, and high resolution video processing technology to provide 1080i HD.
The KDS-R70XBR2 and KDS-R60XBR2 will also have up to 10,000:1 dynamic contrast, two HDMI inputs with 1080p capability, front HDMI HDV camcorder connection, and a PC input.
Because rear projection televisions are the runt of the HD TV litter, both models for the size are relatively cheap. The KDS-R70XBR2 and KDS-R60XBR2 cost about $7,000 and $4,300 respectively.
