| Smartphones and PDAs are perfect for portable use, like sending the odd email, or checking train times online, but they can get a little bit fiddly when used regularly. The next best thing up until now has been the tablet PC which is often far too large to lug about. Well now there is a solution filling this gap between the smartphone and the tablet PC introducing the Flybook. |
'Smaller than other tablet PCs' |
| Their office in your pocket slogan is a little exaggerated, unless you have unusually large pockets, but we can certainly see what theyre getting at. These miniature laptops measure up at 23.5 x 15.5 x 3cm, similar to a chapter of a hardback book. This perfect commuter companion weighs a tiny 1.2kgs and comes in all the colours of the rainbow. | |
'Rotate the touchscreen' | Just like some larger tablet PCs, the screen rotates 360 degrees, and can be laid down onto the keyboard to resemble a notepad. This transforms the 22.5cm screen into a touchscreen ready for handwriting documents using the included and storable stylus.
Excellent connectivity including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allows you to keep up to date when out and about. Our favourite feature is the SIM card slot this gives the option of popping in your mobiles SIM card, and then via the GRPS tri-band mobile speakerphone you can make calls, send texts or MMS using the Flybook. So far there are six different models to choose from, ranging from basic up to some of the highest specs on the market. Models include the A33i, V23i, V33i, V23i HSDPA, V33i HSDPA, and the latest to be launched at the end of 2006 was the VM model. Prices range from around £1300 up to £1700. If you can promise to keep a secret, Unbeatable has heard through the grapevine that Flybook is planning their next launch for the Cebit digital living convention in March.
