Samsung Launch Windows Vista Compatible Q1P UMPC

CES 2006 saw the launch of the truly mobile Samsung Q1 and before long the UMPC had a power-boosting upgrade to the even meaner Q1P.  Bringing the power of a PC into a handheld ultra-mobile device, the Q1P provides access anytime, anywhere, and now, it’s had a Vista makeover.

In anticipation of Microsoft Windows’ Vista O.S launch, Samsung was ready to pounce, with a task force for back-up.  Having Microsoft’s high standards in mind Samsung set to design the Q1P UMPC, providing it with the capability to support the high spec Vista operating system.

Bret Berg, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Mobile Computing Products, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. said:  "With the Q1P for Windows Vista UMPC, Samsung has once again proven its dedication to the UMPC market by delivering a powerful product that allows even the most mobile individuals to enjoy the many benefits of Windows Vista while on the go."

Samsung’s launch has excited Mika Krammer, Director of Windows Client Mobility at Microsoft Corp. "It is exciting to see the industry momentum behind the UMPC platform and Origami Experience, and we are thrilled to work closely with Samsung to deliver innovative solutions to our customers such as the Q1P for Windows Vista. This new addition to the UMPC category combines the power of Windows Vista with a lightweight, carry-everywhere hardware design that enables users to easily maintain their digital lifestyle."

Samsung’s Vista’d up Q1P will be available soon in the UK, but for now we can let you know that it’s retailing for $1,299 over the pond.
