Philips 42PFL9900D 42” Ambilight LCD HDTV – Hopefully the rumours are true!
We always get wind of technology rumours that fly around and this is no exception. Philips have (accidentally!?) leaked a spec sheet of the new 42PFL9900D LCD TV of which its design creates an original masterpiece in the LCD/Plasma world.
| The design is definitely unique and is completely new compared to the original Ambilight range as the frame sits seamlessly level with the screen whereas previous models had the frame looking like a photo frame with the screen sitting separately. |
With a fancy new design the new Philips LCD TV will turn a few heads, we're sure! |
So Philips have given the Ambilight the much needed facelift it required, but what about the specifications, have they improved too, putting the range up there with the likes of Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba, to name just a few? Well, the short answer to that is yes, with 3HDMI connections as well as component, 2x scart, digital audio output and a USB connection for displaying JPEG photos and MP3 playback. The main features are more than impressive too, with a Full HD 1080p resolution screen which will show images perfectly, pixel by pixel and a 100Hz refresh rate. There is also a 1200:1 contrast ratio, 550cd/m2 brightness and a 176 viewing angle. This model will be coming to the UK in the near future and we will update you with pricing and availability dates as soon as we can. | |
