Philips 42PF9831D backlit LCD arrives

The long awaited Philips' Full Surround Ambilight television has finally arrived in the UK.

It’s a 42 inch HD ready LCD TV that is surrounded by a halo of glowing light – so every day will have that sparkling Christmas feeling.

The 42PF9831D, has four light strips around the box.  Each one works independently of the others and is influenced by the colours on the screen – so what you get is an array of colours and brightness.

This is a product that sits at the top end of Philips line-up and will be expected to cost £3,500.

But for that price the model also includes brand new Pixel Plus 3 HD image processing technology to boost detail levels, Digital Natural Motion to smooth out fast movements and Clear LCD to cut down on motion blur.
