Panasonic unveil the World’s Smallest Digital Camcorder, the SDR-S10.

It may be minute and look like the latest clam-shell mobile phone, but does it have the ability to stick it out amongst the high definition camcorders and tapeless models on the market today.

We praise Panasonic for producing such a small camcorder that enables us to capture those treasured memories wherever we are and there are also some impressive features on board too. It uses the SD and SDHC (high capacity) memory card enabling users to capture hours of footage and also create a shock proof alternative to video tapes or disks as in previous camcorder models. Aiming this model at the younger user, the S10 will capture footage suitable for transfer to the internet for use on sites such as, YouTube and MySpace etc and with the quick turnaround of footage required, the shooting, editing and upload features are kept fast and simple.

The quick-start function allows the S10 to power up and start recording in no more than 1.7 seconds, impressive. Believe it or not there is a massive 2.7” LCD flip screen which sits flush with the camcorder body, but the S10 cannot video in high definition and it only takes pitifully small still images, which tend to weigh out the pros about the size of it.

The Panasonic SDR-S10 weighs only 185g

The Panasonic SDR-S10 may be small and very light, but the Sanyo Xacti is marginally bigger and will record in HD and takes 7.1 mega pixel still images with ease. We know which we would go for.

The Panasonic SDR-S10 will be available from May 2007.
