Palm Treo 750

Sporting the signature Palm Treo design, the Treo 750 has all the usual functions, including a dedicated ringtone silencer switch at the top next to the stylus compartment, once the stylus is tapped, it slides out ready to enhance the touchscreen experience.  At the opposite end are a headset jack, multi connector and microphone.  At the rear there is a digital camera lens, and a speaker for loud-speaking or listening to audio files.  All the normal function controls can be found on the front of the Treo 750, including a colourful 240x240 screen, 5-way navigator, and all the usual call start and end buttons.  Down the left hand side are two buttons, one customisable, and one for adjusting volume.  On the right side is an infrared port and MiniSD card slot that can take anything up to 2GB of extra memory.  The overall dimensions haven’t seen much change, with measurements of 113 x 59 x 21mm and a weight of 154 grams.

Palm is renowned for providing all the essentials, and a whole lot more.  The Treo 750 has been sprinkled with all the latest technology, making calls, emailing, messaging, and surfing the web ultimately pleasurable and hassle-free.  As soon as you start up the Treo 750 you’ll be given the option of a quick tour – this will provide a perfect insight to what’s on offer.   The smartphone comes with a 128MB memory, which is extendable up to 2GB via the MicroSD slot.  The 1.3 megapixel digital camera comes with a video option, so users can snap or shoot before sending files using the 3G web access, providing the highest-speed internet network.  Users can choose to assign photos to their phonebook, to utilise the option of picture speed dial, or add voice commands for voice dialling.  A dedicated SMS and MMS inbox makes sending and receiving messages easier.  Another enhancement to the Treo 750’s message features is the ‘chat-view’ page, where you can see the last text sent or received, just like on a messaging service.

Dominating in the realm of software is of course Microsoft, with the latest Windows Media Player 10.0, a Palm enhanced Windows Mobile 5.0 PC edition including Office applications such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  The PDF viewer has been provided by Picsel.  With these applications, users can open files, amend and save, before sending via email.  On the subject of email, users will find the option of having up to 6 different business and personal email accounts open simultaneously extremely appealing.  Once the Treo 750 is powered up, push technology kicks in, providing automatic updates to email accounts, calendars, contacts and task lists. Up-to-date connectivity options include integrated Bluetooth technology, supporting the included stereo headset, and many other Bluetooth headsets on the market.  For hands-free options in the car, the Treo 750 has an integrated car-kit with optional connectivity.  When on the move, the Treo 750 can act as a high speed modem for your laptop.  By simply connecting the included USB sync cable, or using Bluetooth, you can connect to the internet via the device.  Minimum requirements for compatibility are Windows XP or 2000, and of course, a USB port.  All the normal quirky, but important features remain, including an alarm clock, calculator, and the addictive and time-consuming Solitaire. Palm claim the removable rechargeable battery will provide 4.5 hours talk-time, and 240 hours stand-by time.

In the box, Palm has provided a multi-functional software disc, the Treo 750 Smartphone with a 1200 mAh removable rechargeable battery, travel charger, USB sync cable, stereo headset, and a user guide.
