New Macbook Pro Supports Audio With Mini DisplayPort
Up until now, the miniDP only transmitted video, but now Apple has confirmed to Ars that Macbook Pros will pass both video and audio signals to an HDMI adapter when using a miniDP. Apple has options for such adapters online through Griffin online and suppliers like Monoprice.
The 24in LED Cinema Display currently relies on USB for audio signals even when set up with modern Macbook Pros. Cinema Display was designed previously to Apples updated implementation of the miniDP. CinemaDisplay still requires USB for audio signals, even when paired with the new MBPs. iSight still requires USBs as well.
