LG blu-ray players for 2010

Lg don't come to mind when you first think of Blu-Ray players, but at CES this year Lg have outlined their plans for the players that will be coming out in 2010. Key features will include 250 GB hard drive, NetCast entertainment access™, enhanced audio performance and Wi-Fi Connectivity. And with a great range of Lg flat screens already available, not to mention this years new releases, Lg should gain some real ground in the Blu-Ray market.

Lg have said: "Delivering on its commitment to give consumers endless entertainment options in a stylish package, LG Electronics today introduced its 2010 family of Network Blu-ray Disc Players and Home Theater Systems that bring a new level of convenience to playing pre-recorded and online high-definition content."

They are launching the first Blu-ray Disc player to feature an integrated hard drive (250GB). Its clear that there is no intention to transfer movies onto the player itself but it will mean that digital images, music and online movies (from VUDU™) can be stored. Its great to see that the consumer will have the option to store such media in one place but the price will have to be right to compete with the PS3!

The mention of NetCast Entertainment Access means that users will have instant access to Netflix™, CinemaNow™, VUDU, YouTube™ and Pandoa® with more set to come online this year. The players will also feature 1080p upscaling for standard DVDs for a near high definition viewing experience no matter what format is being played.

Lg Network Blu-ray Disc Players

The main Network Blu-ray Disc Player is the BD590, this will feature the integrated hard drive and Gracenote’s MusicID-Stream™, which allows consumers to hear a song playing in a movie or TV show by simply pressing a button on their remote control. Gracenote then returns rich information on the song such as artist, genre and album cover art.

Also build-in to the players is Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing consumers flexibility when installing the system allowing connection to any existing 802.11n wireless home network.

Network Blu-ray Disc Home Theater Systems

The LHB975 is Lg's Network Blu-ray Disc Home Theater System. Offering a sleek, stylish audio-visual solution with 3-channel wireless speaker technology. The LHB975 provides consumers access to the same online services as the BD590 via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The system offers 1100 watts of output to 5.1 channel surround-sound. Two wireless rear speakers and subwoofer complete the package, giving consumers flexibility to place them anywhere in the room. In addition, 2 tall, slim front speakers can be positioned as either floor-standing or wall mounted with the brackets that are included.

The LHB975 also allows for both the iPod and iPhone to be directly connected via a docking system located on the player, in case you like all-in-one systems.

Expanding Entertainment Possibilities with Blu-ray Disc

Network Blu-ray Disc products are the BD550 and BD570 players and LHB535 and LHB335 home theater systems, all featuring NetCast Entertainment Access.

The BD570 has the same features as the BD590 without the built-in hard drive.

The BD550 Blu-ray Disc player delivers NetCast Entertainment Access and features many of the standard Blu-ray features

The LHB535 has the same features as the LHB975 with the exception of the 3-channel wireless speaker technology and tall and slim front speaker designs.

The LHB335 is a cut down version of the LHB975 which still offers the NetCast Entertainment Access along with 1 HDMI input for high resolution audio and video devices and USB connectivity.

But as mentioned before, the price will have to be right on the Blu-ray players to compete with the PS3 which offers many of the key features already.
