The prospect of getting our hands on one of these is very exciting, but we're going to have to wait a while. At Ceatec Hitachi said they hope to have a video camera with a built-in Blu-ray burner ready within two years. The Hitachi Blu-ray camcorder will have a Blu-ray burner that will use an eight centimetre disk rather than the usual 12 centimetre ones used at present. Now the company hasnt produced these yet but are working on the spec for an eight centimetre Blu-ray drive. They didn't really give much more information about what we're likely to get, but it doesn't take a genius to work out that because the Hitachi Blu-ray digital camcorder will be able to hold more data on smaller disks, it will mean the design of the actual camera will be smaller and slimmer. The age of home movies is really coming into its own, lightweight cameras with high definition video quality. |
