Google Adds Social Feature to Gmail

If you happen to be a gmail user, you already know you can use the service to chat with friends and of course email. Google will now be adding a new social feature that stems from sites like Facebook and Twitter. With a live feed of status updates, the user can see what their friends are up to.  

Google won't say when, but the new stream will eventually include content that a users connections share through Google's Youtube video site and Picasa photo service. Such changes are similar to that of Yahoo's when they added a feature last year that allows users to view when friends have uploaded photos to sites like Flickr. The new feature could be available as early as this week and we look forward to hearing how users feel about it.
