GTA 3D Coming to an iPad Near You This Summer
Yes you read that correctly: 3D! This is the first news we've heard regarding possible 3D games on the iPad, mainly due to the fact that Apple has kept this one very close to it's chest, it's only after speaking to a couple of industry insiders close to the Rock Star team that we managed to find out anything at all! In order to make this possible on the iPad the GTA makers have teamed up with a little known App Development team based in Shropshire, who have designed a brilliant technique for translating interlaced game footage into 3D motion graphics.
From what we've been told so far the technology will be heavily dependant on a polarizing screen that attaches to the iPad. The screen, which will completely cover the display, will refract light and redirect two different images to both the left and right eyes. In order to make this possible, both images will be interlaced together to create smooth 25 frames per second 3D gameplay. Unfortunately you will still need to use a set of polarizing glasses to view the 3D effects, unlike the proposed 'glasses free' technology expected in Nintendo's upcoming 3DS games machine.
No more information is known about the storyline other than its London based location, but that's got us excited enough as it is! Check back for more details later as we find out more information about GTA 3D, no doubt the Interweb will be full of announcements within the next couple of days as we expect an official press release from Liquid New Media within the next few hours or so!
