Speed doesnt necessarily mean noise, according to Fujitsu-Siemens anyway. After giving their latest two models, the Celsius R540, and R640 the fastest processors in town, theyve added a noise reducing cooling system to keep it on the quieter side.
R540
With its ultra-compact chassis, the R540 is the smaller of the two, but has no problem holding four hard discs. Sporting quad-core Intel Xeon processors, and high-speed PCI express 2D and 3D open GL graphic cards, it has been recommended for instance software development, 3D modelling, CAD and financial applications. According to the manufacturer, it can hold up to 16GB of memory. Available immediately, the R540 is on sale from around £1485
R640
As the bigger brother of the two, the R640 has a larger chassis, providing extra space for more components and features. This high-end workstation is especially suited to animation, virtual reality, visualization, technical simulation, and geosciences. Its available now, with prices starting from around £1620.
