Freeview HD to be launched soon by BBC
December 2nd 2009 sees the capital and Manchester receive high definition channels as the start of the Freeview HD rollout. The BBC hopes to have all regions of the UK receiving Freeview HD by the end of 2012. Their aim is also to have over half of the population set with HD before the World Cup begins in 2010.
As we reported in our Freeview HD - The Facts news article, a new Freeview HD set top box will be required as standard definition boxes will not be able to receive the HD channels and if your HDTV has integrated Freeview, HD channels will not be received on this either.
So, it could be an expensive business for some that will need to replace their TV's. As they are launched, we will bring you the latest on HDTV's with Freeview HD installed. Watch this space....
