Floppy discs say Final Farewell

When Britain’s largest computer retail chain makes its mind up to stop selling, there really is no hope, and this time it’s the floppy that’s had the chop.

First appearing on the shelves in 1971, the 3.5-inch floppy disc has been used as an easy-to-store solution for backing-up data.  But now with more back-up guarantee from highly specified and much more capable systems, the primary use of the floppy disc has been replaced by storage solutions including the CD and USB memory stick offering up to 1,000 times more storage space.

Floppy fans, if there is such a thing, should snap them up whilst stocks last.
