Dell’s customers will have the choice to have $2 of a laptop purchase or $6 of a desktop purchase, go towards funds to plant trees around the world.

"We're the first global technology company to offset emissions with the purchase of their computers," Dell said.

Michael Dell also challenged every PC maker to join this new initiative as "It's the right thing to do for our customers. It's the right thing to do for our earth."
“Programmes like ‘Plant a Tree for Me’ empower our customers to participate with us in making a difference. It is our hope that other companies in our industry will join us to improve the environment that we all share”, said Michael Dell.

The new scheme will be available to US customers from February and to UK customers from April.
