Daewoo Solo M1 UMPC unveiled

Daewoo’s a Korean company known for making cars.  But they weren’t happy with that category.  They’ve decided they want to go and confuse us by entering the computer arena.

It seems in the Daewoo world the future is in portable PC’s that run on Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.  And as a result they've released the Solo M1, an ultra-mobile PC (UMPC).

Considering it’s their first attempt it’s not a bad result.  The M1 measure 22.6 x 11.4 x 2.5cm, weighs 830g and come with a fetching 7 inch screen.

Internally it will home a 915GMS chipset, a 900MHz Celeron M 353 processor and an integrated Intel GMA 900 graphic engine integrated.  You’ll get 512MB of 400MHz DDR 2 SDRAM on board and a 1.8in, 4,200rpm 30GB hard drive.

As well as all those oh so exciting goodies, the M1 also has Bluetooth 1.2 and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi for connectivity, a USB connector and a four-in-one memory card reader.

The docking station it sits on will come with a further four USB ports, a S-video and VGA output.
