Creative introduces the Creative Xdock Wireless for iPod

Yes, another docking station to add to the long list of accessories for Apple’s popular MP3 player, the iPod. But we think this one deserves extra attention…

The Xdock Wireless has been certified by Apple under the “Made for iPod” program and connects directly to a powered speaker system to play video, photos and music in Xtreme Fidelity.

Unveiling the product, Sim Wong Hoo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Creative, said, "We designed the Creative Xdock Wireless so an iPod can easily become the audio platform for your entire home. Your iPod goes in the Creative Xdock Wireless to play music through Creative X-Fi Wireless Receivers in as many rooms as you want - all upconverted to Xtreme Fidelity."

Sim Wong Hoo talked about Xtreme Fidelity, which is produced with X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D technology. The X-Fi Crystalizer makes MP3s sound better than CDs by analyzing and identifying which parts of the audio stream have been truncated or damaged during compression. Then it restores the highs and lows from instrument and vocals that have been damaged during the compression of MP3s.
X-Fi CMSS-3D creates virtual surround sound through speakers or headphones.

Other features of the Creative Xdock Wireless include S-video and composite video-out connections, photos and videos stored in your iPod can be displayed in a TV screen. There is also a wireless remote to navigate the iPod menu, adjust volume levels, and activate X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D.

The Creative Xdock Wireless and the Creative X-Fi Wireless Receiver will be available in Mach this year for a retail price of $299 and $149 respectively.
