Creative Enhance Vista Sound Experience

The eagerly awaited ‘Vista Experience’ is becoming somewhat of an anticlimax, especially for gamers, until now.  The missing HAL is a layer between the hardware and software that runs on a computer.  Its function is to hide differences in hardware and therefore provide a consistent platform to run applications on.

Audio corporation Creative has reacted to their area of expertise by providing a solution application called Alchemy.  The downloadable application will detect those games using Direct Sound and will bypass Vista to give gamers a better audio performance.  As most game titles use Direct Sound, the software has come as a blessing for gamers.

Creative said the other option for their customers is to upgrade existing Creative Sound Cards as they will also be affected by the absence of the HAL.  However this is not a Creative-only problem, and all firms that provide sound on motherboards will suffer.
