Avatar and 3D Blu-ray Spec Launching
With Avatar, hours away from release on big screen (in the states anyway), you have to love the timing regarding the launching of the 3D Blu-ray specification. Film Director, James Cameron spoke of the 3D technology and his work with Panasonic at CES in 2009. One short year later, the much anticipated movie and 3D technology is set for fanboys alike.
The overwhelming preference for 3D when given the option, has prompted this technology and spurred the need for it to be available in the home as well as the theater. Victor Matsuda, chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association's Global Promotions Committee explains, "We believe this demand for 3D content will carry over into the home now that we have, in Blu-ray Disc, a medium that can deliver a quality Full HD 3D experience to the living room."
Just as you have given in and purchased your first Blu-ray player, along comes another reason to need a new one. Word is that Sony's Playstation will be able to support the disc's, but that doesn't mean that we will be able to view in full 3D? We still aren't clear how that news is supposed to make us do back flips. Look forward to the 3D products being available in 2010.
