The Apple iPad
The iPad goes on general sale in the US on Sat 3rd April (this weekend) and reviews are popping up like daffodils.
One of the most significant reviews so far has been from the Wall Street Journal reporter Walt Mossberg who is keeping a very open mind saying that the iPad has got to stand out in the market and only time will tell as to whether it will be a threat to netbooks and E-readers alike.
Mossberg goes on to say that "the iPad can indeed replace a laptop for most data communication, content consumption and even limited content creation, a lot of the time. But it all depends on how you use your computer." And he feels that it is best used for web reading, video, music, gaming, newspapers, magazines and books.
It's interesting to learn that the battery life was found to last longer than originally stated by Apple, as Mossberg managed to squeeze 11 hours and 28 minutes from the battery, watching four full length films, four TV episodes and a 90 minute presentation. This was all with email, wi-fi and fill screen brightness switched on too.
There are going to be many niggles to be found and everybody will have something different to complain and shout about, no doubt. And on the flipside there are also going to be many advantages to the iPad and how it assists many in their day to day tasks and entertainment. Some complaints include, Apps being stretched creating a blocky look, more expensive apps, heavy, no camera, no USB.
However many complaints it receives, the iPad will gain success from its affordability, functionality and sheer gorgeousness.
