The MacBook Air has a 13.3” backlit LED screen and has a resolution of 1280x800 to provide you with stunning colours and amazing brightness as soon as you open it. The MacBook Air weighs only 3lbs and measures 0.76” thick. A backlit keyboard improves things if you are working in low light conditions, on a plane for example, and there is also a built-in ambient light sensor, which adjusts the keyboard and display brightness depending on the lighting conditions. Apple has also enlarged the size of the multi touch trackpad (mouse pad) and reduced the size of the trackpad button to be even more ergonomically friendly to your fingers. The trackpad now allows you to pinch or swipe or grab and move text and images just like the Apple iPhone and Apple iPod Touch does. The MacBook Air allows you to wirelessly surf for up to 5 whole hours with the thinnest ever battery, which doesn’t compromise power and performance. Because Apple is focussing on the Wireless feature with the MacBook Air the optical drive has been removed and instead of watching DVD’s you can download movies from iTunes and instead of backing up your files to disc you can now download them to the Apple Time Capsule.
An iSight in-built camera has also been added which is sneakily built in just above the display and is hardly noticeable but works really well as a webcam. A custom made chip operates the MacBook Air which has been made half the size of previous Intel chips so it can fit inside the ultra slim body. There is a 1.6GHz or a 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo chip. It also has 2GB of RAM and a 80GB hard drive offering loads of storage space. The Apple MacBook Air will be available in the US at the beginning of Feb 2008 for $1799. |
