Android 2.2 Nexus One Update Arrives for Vodafone UK Customers

On this hot British summers day Google have dished out some Frozen Yoghurt to it's UK based Nexus One users and will continue to roll it out over the next few days.

Vodafone Nexus One users have started to receive the new Android 2.2 update on their handsets, the next version of Google's mobile operating system, code named Froyo (hence the frozen yoghurt). The update is said to bring impressive OS speed updates to Android phones, as well as the ability to add apps to the SD card storage.

This is great news, but even bigger news is the fact that Vodafone have NOT banned Android's newest feature: Wireless tethering! Yes that's right, you'll be able to use your Android smartphone as a wireless router and tap into it's 3G data connection for use will your laptop, or even your Apple iPad!

No news on whether the other network providers will be as generous, but based on the aggressive UK mobile competition we enjoy,  we expect every network will take up the same stance, in order to avoid giving Vodafone the upper hand in the Android smartphone market.
