Many camera manufacturers are including innovative technology such as Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Image Stabilisation, Intelligent Scene Recognition to name just a few. We will explain all of this jargon and give you some examples of recommended digital cameras to assist you in your purchase.

| Image Stabilisation (IS or is): Also known as or referred to as Anti-Shake technology, Shake Reduction, Anti-Blur or OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). This function increases the stability of an image to reduce or remove image blur. Intelligent Scene Recognition: As it is named, by Sony, this function is very intelligent in the way that it recognises flaws in a particular scene and corrects them for example, under-exposure, darkness, detail. Intelligent Scene Recognition automatically adjusts your cameras settings and for the best possible results. An example is the Sony DSC-T300. |
| Blog Mode/YouTube/Ebay Mode: This mode allows the user to take a still image or video footage that will be suitable for upload to a Social Networking site or video site such as YouTube. The still or footage will automatically be shot in the correct file size for upload. Examples are the Fuji Z20fd and the Casio EX-Z200. |

Red Eye Removal: This function totally removes unsightly red eye from your image after it has been taken by highlighting the affected area and simply clicking a button to remove. Examples are the Fuji Z100fd and the Canon 970is. |

Megapixels: The amount of megapixels determines the image quality. The more mega pixels on a camera, the larger the image that can be printed at a high quality. If you only want small images such as 5x7" or 9x6" then a cameras with around 8-10 mega pixels will be just fine, however if you want to print larger images a camera with over 10 mega pixels will perform better.
